Madisonville Downtown Association
The Madisonville
Downtown Association is a group of Madisonville residents dedicated to
the improvement of the city's downtown area. The Association members
have purchased numerous types of banners which are hung on the power
poles by the Fort Loudon Electric Cooperative for each season. They
also take care of the flowers in flower pots located around the downtown
area.
During the 4th of July holiday, the Association members have American
Flags set along the sidewalks which make a striking scene when one
drives through. During the Christmas holidays, these volunteers place
lighted candles in the courthouse windows and other county buildings.
They also host an annual lighting of the Christmas Tree on the
courthouse lawn. The Downtown Association meets on the last
Thursday of each month at Donna's Old Town Café, located on College
Street, across from the courthouse at 5:30 p.m. This dedicated
group of individuals is greatly appreciated by the Mayor, City Council
and residents of Madisonville.

Duties:
This group is appointed by the Mayor to meet and discuss
grant-related projects. The Citizens Advisory Board has mainly
worked on the creation of the new Kefauver Park & Walking Trail
located next to the Industrial Park.
The Park contains a new baseball field and a walking trail which
runs along the banks of the lake encircles the entire lake.
The walking trail is used for walking, jogging, biking and is
wide enough for persons who require the use of a wheelchair.
Along the trail are picnic tables, park benches and grills.
Many parents bring their children out just to feed the ducks
which are in abundance around the lake.
